Event Categories and Event Types
In EarthRanger, an “event category” represents a group of “event types”. Event Categories are similar to SMART’s data models, and event types are similar to SMART’s categories.
In the example below, EarthRanger was integrated with a SMART CA with an identifier “NARA”. This integration automatically created in EarthRanger an event category named “NARA” with all the event types required to reflect the data model in the NARA SMAR CA.
The data model had a few categories, such as “People”, which were created as event types (e.g., “Nara - People”) within that event category.
Subjects
In EarthRanger, a subject is anything or anyone that can be tracked. Subjects will be listed under the “Reported By” field of an EarthRanger report/event. These are similar to SMART’s employees.
In the example below, EarthRanger was integrated with a SMART CA with an identifier “NLES”. This integration automatically created in EarthRanger the subjects required to reflect the employee list in the NLES CA.
The employee “Aaron C. Zimba” was created as a subject in EarthRanger with the name “Aaron C. Zimba (NLES)”.
